Chloroacetic Acid Market Business Strategy, Players Data, Recent Trends, Segments Analysis, Future Opportunity and Forecasts
Chloroacetic
acid, also known as Chloroacetic acid (MCA), is a bifunctional acid with a
molecule structure. Pure MCA is a colorless, deliquescent crystalline mass at
room temperature. It is extremely soluble in water and is freely soluble in
methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, diethyl ether, and acetone. It is widely used
as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of a wide range of industrially and
commercially important chemicals, including glycine, CMC, TGA, and cyanoacetic
acid. It is also used to make betaine-type surfactants, synthetic caffeine, and
vitamins, as well as 2, 4-D, and methanoates for herbicides. MCA is
commercially produced by chlorinating acetic acid as a catalyst during the
production of acetic anhydride.
Chloroacetic
acid is a halogenated acetic acid derivative that is used in the production of
drugs, drilling fluids, pesticides, and dyes. Growing agriculture industries in
Brazil, India, and China, as a result of favorable government regulatory
support and raw material access, are expected to drive pesticide demand, which
will drive chloroacetic
acid market growth. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the
European Commission have developed regulatory standards aimed at reducing
volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, which have increased demand for
bio-based chemicals and will harm the industry.
Because
the product is a strong keratolytic and caustic topical agent, it can be used
in a variety of medicines to treat verrucae, atherosclerosis, and skin lesions.
Rising demographic aging in countries such as Japan and the United States is
expected to have a positive impact over the forecast period.
Over
the forecast period, Asia Pacific will be a profitable chloroacetic acid
industry due to rising agricultural industries in India and China, as well as
regulatory incentives to increase domestic production output. The market is expected
to be driven by the development of pesticides, dyes, pharmaceutical, and
chemical industries in China, owing to low manufacturing costs and easy raw
material access.
